Johnny Brown, Friend, Still Missed, Mark after all this time you are still missed. Route 1, Box 977, Dingess, WV, 25671, Brown.

Mark was the RTO for Co E (Recon) 2nd Bn 1st Infantry. I was there that night. I brought in his DUSTOFF. Thinking of you Mark...every day. Bill

HIS AGE IN YEARS WAS 19 THEN, (For Mark E Allen: Panel 02W, Line 101), His age in years was 19 then, And I was 21, And we shared a bond called friendship, 'neath the rain and searing sun. High atop the hill we lived, In billets green and brown, Safe within a netted womb, Yet fearing every sound. I know that I'm immortal, Mark, To live within this Hell. But deep within a soul full of shrapnel, I feared the shot and shell. He went north while I stayed there. No word was ever said. Two months passed before I learned That Mark, my friend, was dead. And though the years have passed me by Our friendship never weans. My age in years is 54 But Mark is still 19. ©Copyright May 30, 2005 (Memorial Day) by Alan L. Mark was the most caring person you ever saw about everybody and everything. Mark came home for Christmas and saw a company taking a stone from the grave of a baby at the cemetery because the family couldn't pay for it. He stopped them and told them to put it back and he would send the money to them to finish paying for it. He sent the money home, and was killed in January. That is just how he was. Darlene Pressley, Sister.

He served with Echo Company (RECON), 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 196th Infantry Brigade, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
