On, Monday, Oct. 25 Betty B. Pennington of Riggins, Idaho went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Betty was born on July 18, 1931 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. In 1938 in a Baptist church in Blackwell, Oklahoma at the age of 7 years old she was born again giving her heart to Jesus during Vacation Bible School. Betty lived her life doing her best to serve the Lord whom she loved. Betty was reunited with her son, David Pennington, her parents JC and Irene Brown, twin sisters Roberta and Roverna, sister Eva Ida and brother Robert Brown. Today she is celebrating her homecoming in heaven with family and friends who have gone before her and especially with Jesus.

Betty has left behind her loving husband of 66 years, Gene C. Pennington, daughter Vicki (David) Bishop, son Mark (Shawn) Pennington, 6 grandchildren; Cheri (Charles) Patton, David (Angelique) Bishop, Tina Ivanic-Lobato, Dustin (Francesca) Ivanic, Daniel (Kathy) Pennington, and Jeremy (Kerry) Pennington, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, nephews; Robert McConnell, Wyman McConnell, and Greg Setser, nieces; Diana (Larry) Kuncl, Sherry (Alex) Hernandez, and Debbie Setser whom will all miss her dearly.

Betty leaves a legacy of her faith in God. White Avenue Baptist church in Pomona, California was started in her parent’s home in the 1940’s. Betty taught the 3rd graders in Sunday school at White Avenue Baptist church for 15 years. She played the piano and sang in the choir and was very active in the church. She raised her children to love the Lord. During her lifetime, Betty, enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidering and crocheting and escaping to the mountains in Big Bear California on weekends when she could. She worked at Pomona First Federal Savings and Loan Association as the Assistant Vice President in Personnel in Pomona, California until her retirement in 1983. Upon retirement Betty and Gene moved to Riggins, Idaho and built a house there to spend their golden years in the beauty of God’s creation. Betty was a member of the Little Salmon River Bible Church in Pollack, Idaho where she loved being able to go to worship her Lord singing praises to Him while being able to fellowship with her church family. Her family is looking forward to the day when we will see each other again never to be separated any more when all tears will be wiped away.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Little Salmon River Bible Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family at Blackmerfuneralhome.com.
