Son of John F. and Ethel Hess Graff. Served in India during WWII doing secret code work. Attained rank of corporal. Married Imo Grant in 1941. Took over his father's clothing business in 1947. The "Jack C. Graff Clothing Store" imported clothing from Europe. Jack bought a 1964 Rolls Royce on a buying trip to London in 1974 and had it shipped back to Seward. It was the only Rolls in the county.
