Mitchell Funeral Home, Price, Utah. Obituary: EAST CARBON-Leon Eldon Jelsma, age 88, passed away November 16, 2010 at home in Beaver Dam, Arizona. He was born July 13, 1922 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to John Jelsma, Sr. and Lulu Johnson Jelsma. Leon met and married the love of his life Betty Halligan, on July 12, 1952 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They were married for 55 years before her passing on September 29, 2008. Leon was a heavy duty mechanic and welder and was a member of the Operation Engineers Local #3. He was a religious man, a wonderful father and grandfather. He never met a stranger and he will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his six children, JoAnn (John) Rundquist, Gary (Debbie) Jelsma, Harold (Cindy) Jelsma, Judy (Paul) Brown, Lonnie (Kathy) Jelsma, Lonna (Bryon) Graham; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, two brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral service, Saturday, November 20, 2010, 1:00 p.m., Calvary Faith Church of East Carbon, 600 Denver Ave, East Carbon, Utah. Family will be at the church Saturday one hour prior to service.
