Stanton G. Needham, age 82, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016.
Stanton was born on December 13, 1933 to Carl and Merle Needham, in Coleman, OK and moved to Fairacres, NM nine months later.
Upon graduating from high school, Stanton remained in Las Cruces to attend New Mexico State University studying Civil Engineering. His studies were interrupted by the draft and he served two years in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge and returning to Las Cruces to the job he previously held at the Physical Science Laboratory as a Data Analyst where he analyzed tests performed at White Sands Missile Range until he retired in 1985.
Stanton was a kind, generous man who nursed both his parents until they were taken by cancer.
Stanton met Gloria in 1988 and married her four months later, enjoying 28 years of marriage. Stanton immediately became a respected father figure to Gloria's grown children Jim, Kimberly and Ginger, and later a beloved grandfather to their children.
Stanton was a great cook and enjoyed feeding a full table of guests. Stanton had a beautiful tenor voice and was a long-time member of Northeast Church of Christ. Stanton was wonderful in all of his roles, full of love for his family.
Stanton was preceded in death by his parents.
Stanton leaves behind his wife, Gloria Needham, siblings, Gwen (Rich) Burlemann, Kenneth (Jennie Lou) Needham and Lou Ann (Bob) Youngblood, nieces and nephews, Dale/Brenda, Jennifer/Ross/Scott, Kevin/Jason and grandchildren, Noah/Aaron and Megan/Adam.
The family gives special thanks to Lulu and Luana, Stanton's caregivers and to Michael Dunn from Hospice of NM, for their excellent care.
A Military burial will be held at Santa Fé National Cemetery in Santa Fé, NM at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016. A memorial service will be held at the Northeast Church of Christ, at 1100 Paseo del Norte NE in Albuquerque, NM at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Stanton's honor to the Northeast Church of Christ.
