Gerald M. Schiltz, age 67, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006. He was born November 6, 1939 in Aurora, Illinois.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 413 months, Linda (Lannen) Schiltz; his children Laura (Don) Lewis of Oak Park, IL, Matthew (Ryan) Schiltz of Palatine, IL, and Julie Schiltz (Bill Jug) of Forest Park, IL ; one grandson Ethan Lewis; his brothers, Tom (Eileen) Schiltz of St. Charles, IL, Jim (Frances) Schiltz of Muskegon, MI.; his sisters Janice (Dick) Buss of Aurora, IL, and Mary (Mike) Kline of Aurora, IL; a brother-in-law Jim Lannen of Marietta, GA.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jeanette and Elmer Schiltz.

Gerry retired from Northern IL. Gas (NICOR) after 41 years with the company. He held several different positions over the years, culminating his career as Control Clerk of the Customer Service Department.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served two years in Germany.

Gerry attended St. Nicholas and St. Joseph Catholic Churches where at different times he served as a Eucharistic Minister, choir member, a lector and a minister of compassion. He was a member of the Finance Council, Pastoral Council and the Stewardship Committee and a former member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council - Diocese of Rockford.

Gerry and Linda served as the Aurora Area Coordinators of Pre Cana Conferences for 10 years.

He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and served as the OLGC Court #1544 Youth Director for 22 years. He also served on the IL. State Board and as IL. State Youth Director for a number of years.

He was a volunteer for the Friends and Neighbor Program (FAN) of Family Counseling Services and spent two days a week visiting the sick and homebound. Gerry has been a volunteer and supporter of the PADS Ministries for over 25 years - even before they were housed at Hesed House.

His entire life was a true reflection of a good and faithful servant who spent his time and treasure in the service of others.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from the Daleiden Mortuary to St. Nicholas Church at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Oscar Cortez officiating. Internment will follow at St. Joseph cemetery in Aurora.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, 2006, from 2 - 8 pm. at the Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, IL., 60506 (630) 631-5500

A Liturgical Wake Service, presided over by Gerry's brother, Deacon James Schiltz, will take place at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PADS-A.M. at Hesed Housem 659 S. River St. Aurora, IL., 60506.
