Richard L. “Dick” Shively, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at home while receiving care from Niagara Hospice. He was 75. Richard was born in West Decatur, PA on May 28, 1939, the son of Ray Shively and Adah (Kanouff) Shively. Dick was a member of the first graduation class of 1957 from LaSalle Senior High School. A veteran of the US Army, he was inducted on April 8, 1963 and was honorably discharged in March 1969. Following his discharge, he worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a Tow Motor Operator for 36 years and retired in 1994. He truly enjoyed his long retirement. He was a NASCAR and avid John Wayne fan, loved country music, traveling, including bus tours. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann (James) Shively; a son, Theodore Shively of Niagara Falls; three siblings, Marvin Shively (Sandi) of Bigler, PA; Robert F. Shively (Joan) of Lewiston and Janet Pinto of Niagara Falls; two grandchildren, Theodore and Valerie Shively and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather Orlando Murphy. The family will be present Friday from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 AM with the Rev. Ronald Maines officiating. The interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
