From old family papers: “John Allison came from Ireland when young and settled in Washington County, where he owned three farms at the time of his death. He reared a family of seven children, one of whom, a daughter, youngest daughter, is now in the ninety-third year of her life.” John B. Allison, in a letter to his cousin Joshua Allison, reports two additional children: Rebecca, b: 9 Dec 1781, d: young and a second William who died young. However, there were 3 additional children - Sarah (Sally), *William I, & Rebecca - making a total of 10 children. *William I was killed by a falling tree which the boys were cutting in their efforts to catch a rabbit which had taken refuge in the hollow trunk. The story about being killed by a falling tree is recounted in a letter from John H. Allison to his cousin Joshua Allison. John H. Allison also reports two children named William being born to John B. and Hannah Allison, both died young.
