Ken was a wise, hard worker that started his working days early at the age of 12 as he pulled weeds out of the soybean fields on Henry Ford's farm for 35 cents an hour. At 14, he sold dishes at the Michigan China Company. At 15 he sold produce at Packard's Outlet then moved on to pump gas at the Hi-Speed Gas Station at 16. After marriage, Ken was a farmer in Hillsdale County, then later moved back to Ypsilanti and worked first for Ford Motor Company and then on to Kaiser Motors in labor relations. He bought the Gambles Hardware Store in Morenci at the age of 28. Later he co-started the Village Inn Restaurant with his friend Richard Pennington. He ended his career operating Richardson Realty in Morenci.
He was faithful to his God, his family, his friends, and his community. Ken offered wise counsel to all who knew him. One of his many encouraging admonitions was, "Love the Lord and do what you know to do is right." He was a member of the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene. He also attended Turning Point Church of Adrian.
