Obituary from Graphic, Lake City, Iowa, 5/1/1924:
Woman Fatally Burned
Mrs. Elizabeth Gray, an elderly lady of Farnhamville, was fatally burned Sunday morning at her home when preparing dinner. A burner of her oil stove blazed up and being unable to turn it down she carried the stove out of doors and in doing so the glass tank from the stove was broken, igniting the oil. The fire was spread to her clothes and before help arrived she was frightfully burned. She passed away Sunday evening.
Mrs. Gray was the mother of Mrs. J.R. McCrary, of Oklahoma City, who arrived for the funeral. Mrs. George McCrary, Mrs. D. W. McCrary and Dr. W. E. McCrary, of Lake City also attended the funeral, which was held at Farnhamville Wednesday afternoon.
