Marguerite Conner passed from this life on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 in Odessa. She was born in Hollis, Oklahoma to Ben Ellis and Francis Cunningham Plummer, on Dec. 27, 1912. She was the third of five children in her family. She attended school and graduated in Hollis, interrupted by a short move to Wheeler, Texas. After graduation from Hollis High School she attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and then Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

While working in Hollis, she met, dated, and married Elgin Edmond Conner from nearby Bethel, Oklahoma. They were married on April 21, 1935 in Hollis by Earl Bracheen. To their family were born three sons and a daughter, Moody, Coy, Elgin, Jr., and Anne-marie.

In 1948 the family moved to Plainview, where they soon owned and operated Conner Grocery and Market. Both husband and wife worked hard in the store to provide services for their customers and to provide for their family.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her mother and father; her step-father, Walter Harbin; husband, Elgin; sisters, Pansy Harrison and Gladys Moore; brothers, Charlie and Ben Plummer.

She is survived by her sons: Moody Conner and wife, Georgan of Andrews; Coy Conner of Killeen; Elgin Conner and wife, Dawn of Ft. Worth; and daughter, Anne-marie Dunn and husband, Ronnie of Odessa. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jeff Conner and wife, Valerie of Lubbock, Doctors Connie and Chetlen Crossnoe of Lubbock, Tad Conner and wife, Sonya of Haltom City, Brian Conner and wife Ashley of Murphy, Paxton Dunn and wife Jennifer of Allen; granddaughter, Gentry Dunn Robinson and husband Jarrod of Odessa. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Jaxon Robinson, Lydia Dunn, Thomas, Trey, Mallory, and Bracken Conner, Brandon and Reagan Conner, and Rachel, Conner, and Rebecca Crossnoe.

Marguerite Conner's life was spent in service to her family, her friends and neighbors, her Church and Church family. She was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview. She was especially proud of her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She loved poetry and would recite it in long sessions when encouraged to do so. It was always her goal to be a daily Bible reader and read through the Bible many times. She is most dearly loved by her family and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons in law.
