Missing in Action on 06 November 1944, while flying F6F-3 aircraft, BUNO 42013 off of the USS Lexington (CV 16) with VF-19 during the battle of the Philippines. The plane was damaged by enemy AA fire which caused the engine to fail & he ditched in Laguna Bay, P.I.
He was rescued by Filipino Guerillas and then was later picked up by a USN PBY Dumbo & returned to his squadron by 31-Dec-44.
He retired from the USN as a Commander in Dec 1967.
