Her siblings were Walter Palmer Rodgers, Mabel (Rodgers) Swan, Elizabeth (Rodgers) Pollock and David Rodgers.
She graduated from Leominster High School in 1941 and later received her RN degree from the school of nursing at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston in 1945. Soon after graduation, she married Neil Runnells Howard of Old Town, ME on September 11, 1945 and he later became an ordained minister. Marion worked as a Registered Nurse in several hospitals, including the Elliot Hospital in Keene, NH and the Martha's Vineyard Hospital in Oak Bluffs, MA. She also worked as a public health nurse for the state of Virginia and later for the state of New Hampshire.
In 1987, she and Neil, Sr. moved to Gainesville, FL. Shortly thereafter Neil was called to minister to churches in both Fairfield and Reddick for nearly 20 years, where Marion was an important partner. Their last move in 2007 was to the Westminster Woods retirement community in St. Johns, FL.
Marion will be especially remembered for providing a life of service to nearly everyone she met. Her dedication and kindness to the residents of Westminster Woods will long be remembered. Marion Howard was considered by many as a 'True Angel' on this earth. She loved making quilts, baking cookies for friends, exploring family genealogy and caring for her dog Zeus until his death earlier this year.
Internment will take place in the Rodgers family plot at the Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster, MA at a date yet to be determined.
