Dr H Oliver Musser, MD, passed away on May 17, 2008.

He was born in Akron on October 2, 1913.

He married Virginia Mae Pullins on February 26, 1937.

Dr Musser was a graduate of North High School, the University of Akron, and the Medical School of the University of Pennsylvania. As a young man he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a church organist for 13 years. He was an intern and a surgical resident at Akron City Hospital and a Fellow in Anesthesiology at Lahey Clinic and Navy Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During World War II, he served with the United States Medical Corps at the rank of lieutenant commander aboard the USS Endicott and at medical hospitals in Quantico, Virginia and Oak Knoll, California.

He practiced as an anesthesiologist in Akron from 1946 to 1981. He was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Medical Association. He was past president of the Medical Round Table and a member of the Distinguished Physicians Society of Akron General Medical Center, where he also served as Chief of Staff in Anesthesiology.

He was a pianist with the Doctors' Orchestra for 15 years. He was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and trustee. He was a member of West Akron Kiwanis Club, the Adoniram Masonic Lodge, the Valley of Cleveland Consistory, and the Tadmor Temple. His passions included playing the organ and the piano, travelling, photography, gardening, golfing, bowling and fishing.

Dr Musser was preceded in death by his parents, Roy H and Eva Musser.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia; by his favorite uncle, Ray Fiedler of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania; by his daughter, Leeanne (Delmos) Wright of Clearwater, Florida; by two sons, Robert (Marjorie) Musser of Maben, Mississippi and William (Kathleen) Musser of Florence, Oregon; and by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or to the Haven of Rest. A private memorial service is planned followed by burial at Rose Hill Burial Park.
