Goldie Eakens

Goldie June Eakens, 71, of Risco died Sunday, October 21, 2012, at her residence in Risco. She was a retired Secretary/Clerk for MFA Oil Company and was a member of First Baptist Church in Risco.

Born in Malden on June 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Loren Pride Young and Alice Marie (Thompson) Young. On May 26, 1959, in New Madrid, she was united in marriage to Jerry Dale Eakens, who preceded her in death on December 21, 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Calvin Eakens of Risco and Kenneth Eakens and wife, Melissa, of Jackson; one daughter, Kathy Hughes and husband, Mark, of Jackson; one sister, Ellen Crackel, of Las Angeles, Ca., five grandchildren, Ben Eakens, Thomas Eakens, Erin Eakens, Hannah Hughes and Duncan Hughes and four great-grandchildren, Jasper Eakens, Jordan Creasy, Alexia Creasy and Katie Creasy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 26, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 27, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lewis Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
