BRANCH WARREN, RETIRED ENGINEER, DIES AT 70

Branch W. Warren, 70 years old, a retired government engineer, died at 9:30 o’clock last night in St. John’s hospital, where he had been a patient since last December 1. His home was on Joplin route 2.

During World War I he served as an engineer for the government at Philadelphia, Pa., and during World War II served on the west coast. Born in Joplin, Mr. Warren lived here his entire life, with the exception of the war years when he worked as engineer. He retired in 1945.

In his earlier life, he was a miner. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist church and the Elks Club.

Surviving are a son, Harold Warren, Joplin route 2; a brother Jacob F. Warren, 301 West Forty-third street, and two grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thornhill-Dillon mortuary.

BRANCH WARREN FUNERAL WILL BE HELD TODAY

Funeral services for Branch W. Warren, 70 years old, who died Tuesday night in St. John’s hospital, will be conducted at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Thornhill-Dillon chapel. The Rev. Joe Hickman will officiate, and burial will be in Saginaw cemetery.

The body will remain at the chapel until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be L. G. Wolfe, Joe Dorrizzi, William Drennan, Fred Allen and William Sielers.

NOTES: Branch first married Louise Catherine "Katy" Price 16 Aug 1898 in Newton County. She died February 18, 1905.
Branch second married May Gibson about 1909. They divorced in 1924, according to a Joplin Globe newspaper article on divorces granted. However, Branch and May are shown together in the 1930 census.
The 1940 census finds him married to Nanta M, born in Missouri about 1904. His son Harold D, and Harold's wife Sue, live next door.
