Mary married Richard D. WILSON on 15 Dec 1806 in Knox County, Kentucky. Richard was born about 1780 in , , NC. He died before 14 Apr 1851 in , Harlan County, Kentucky.

They acquired land in Brownies Creek. They built their home at the mouth of Coalstone Branch.
He came to Southeast Kentucky to begin the Primitive Baptist Church. The legend: At the time of his calling he was living in NC and a light lead him out when he would have tarried in Speedwell, Tennessee. The light urged him forward into what was Knox Co., Kentucky until a divison formed Harlan Co., Kentucky in 1819. It would not be until 1867 that Bell Co., Kentucky was formed. Harlan was where he found his wife Mary Rutha Green
