William was named for his father and was the seventh child born to him and Sabre Priscilla [Baichtal] Hester. He married Nelle Waltz May 1, 1905 and was the father of Durwood.

Services for William D. Hester, 90, formerly of 4222 Fourth St., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Arnold's Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Van Meter cemetery.

Mr. Hester died of emphysema Saturday at the Kanasha Community Nursing Home.

Born in Van Meter, he was a Des Moines resident for 59 years and before entering the nursing home at Kanawha he lived in Garner for five years. He was a member of Capitol City Baptist Church. A retired carpenter, he formerly operated a service station at Sixth and Aurora Avenues.

Surviving are a son, Durward of Mount Ida, Ark., and a brother, Maurice of Alamosa, Colo.
