Note on birth year and place of birth: in most census records, Minerva's birth year is noted as about 1883, born in Kansas. The year given above, 1886, was given as her year of birth by her son, Lloyd, who informed Minerva's death certificate. He reported her place of birth as Carthage, Missouri, but she actually was born in Kansas.

In the death certificate for her brother, Jesse Breedlove, who died in 1921, in Jasper County, Missouri, their parents are given as J. Z. Breedlove, and “Luella” McCool, both native of Ohio. Minerva informed the death certificate. In other Missouri death certificates, her father is recorded as James Breedlove. His obituary gave his full name as James Zeloatus Breedlove.

Minerva and her husband Edward married in Carthage, Missouri, on October 8, 1900.

Minerva and her husband Edward, had 3 known children:
Lloyd R Gibson 1902–1967
Dorothy "Dottie" Velma Gibson [Ettel] 1905–1971
