Edwin Bergene, son of Ole A. and Sarah Bergene was born on February 6, 1890 in Marshall Township, Mower county, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Little Cedar Lutheran Church where he has been a member all of his life.
On June 20, 1934, he was united in marriage to Clara Kittelson at Harmony, Minnesota. To this union three children were born. Edwin has lived in Marshall Township all his life. Death came to him on Thursday morning May 8, 1975 at the age of 85 years.
Survivors include his wife Clara of Adams, a daughter Ethel (Mrs. Larry Nerison) of Adams; two sons, Harlan of Berthoud, Colorado and Merritt at home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Orville and Oscar, both of Adams and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Schwerin of Elkton and Mrs. George Erickson of New Ulm, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Ella, a twin sister, and two other sisters, Selma and Mrs. Ollie Uglum.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams with Rev. Wayne Quibell officiating. Organist was Mr. Francis Winkels. Casket bearers were James Bergene, Virgil Bergene, Ward Bergene, Orville Knutson, H. E. Lunde, Dennis Uglum. Interment was at Little Cedar cemetery.
Relatives and friends from out of town came from Northfield, Rochester, Jackson, Albert Lea, Austin, Elkton, Cottage Grove, St. Louis Park, Minneapolis and Virginia, Minnesota, Berthoud, Colorado, and Mt. Horeb, Madison and New Glarus, Wisconsin.
