John, the son of William and Catherine Neville, was born near Havana, IL in 1851. In 1870 John drove alone, a covered wagon to Anderson Co, KS. His parents followed by train in 1871. In 1883 John married Eva Eliza Hobart. They were blessed with two sons, both of whom were killed accidently. March 1895, John & Eva moved to Lawerence, Ks, which was henceforth their home. John was "An honest man. An ardent republican, a well informed citizen, a man with a happy disposition".
