Walter was the grandson of Peter Schuttler I, who formed the Schuttler Wagon Co in Chicago. By 1925 Schuttler II sold out to another wagon maker in St Louis, MO, as the automobile changed the need for wagons. Walter had studied various subjects in Germany and in Chicago, so when he died, he was involved in stocks and bonds.
