In 1940 she and her parents and her four siblings lived in a house they owned at 95 Franklin Street in Clymer, PA. Their home was valued at only $1600 after the Great Depression. Her father worked as a janitor at a county office, with an income in 1939 of $396 for 36 weeks of work, and Thelma as an NYA maid in a doctor's office, with an income in 1939 of $86 for six weeks of work.

C. Bernice Long, 82, of McAdoo and formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center.

Born in Clymer, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Hazel (Boyer) Long.

Bernice was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at Bloomsburg University as a secretary in the Graduate and Registrar Office. Bernice was also the Secretary of Staff Development at the university. She was the former secretary of Local AFSCME 2361.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her sisters, Thelma Long, Vera and Marie Kirkland; brother, Robert Long; and best friend, Rosemary McGrady.

Surviving are her brother-in-law, Darwin Kirkland of Clymer, and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be Saturday at the Damiano Funeral Home Inc., Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo. The Rev. Msgr. William Baker will officiate the service in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's R.C. Cemetery, McAdoo.
