Alonzo enlisted for Civil War army service in Company K, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 15, 1862, at Granger Township, Medina County, Ohio for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Farmer. He was transferred to the 120th Company, 2nd Battalion, Veterans Reserve Corps, March 15, 1864, from which he was mustered out at Evansville, Indiana, June 29, 1865.

His wife was Sarah A. Beebe(nee Yonker), born January 8, 1852 in Ohio and died June 26, 1907 in Medlo, Iowa. They were married September 22, 1870. Sarah is buried with Alonzo.

He belonged to Grand Army of the Republic Post #430, at McMillen, Iowa, Department of Iowa.
