FREEPORT, Ill., Dec. 24, 1925 — L. E. Bartlett, 81, once widely known as a painter and art instructor and formerly a resident of Chicago, is dead at Monroe, Wisconsin. He was a brother, of Jessie Bartlett Davis, an opera singer, and was an intimate friend of Mark Twain and James Whitcomb Riley.
