ACCIDENT CLAIMS THREE LIVES
A SINGLE-CAR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT has left three people dead. The fatalities are the first of 1982 in DeKalb Co. Tennessee.
The accident occurred Friday afternoon, June 18, 1982 on the Hurricane Ridge Road about 3:30 p.m. in a Grand Prix Pontiac. Dead are Jimmy David Ashford 16, Tina Ashford Cantrell, 21, and Jerry Wayne Cantrell, 33 , all of Smithville. According to law officials , the car was traveling south when the driver, Mr. Cantrell, apparently lost control of the car and went of to the right of the road and hit a tree. Dead on the scene were, Ashford, his Sister, Tina Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was transported from DeKalb General Hospital to Vanderbilt, by Tiki-Mas, where he died June 22. The Smithville Rescue Squad was used to open the door to remove the bodies. Two units from the DeKalb Ambulance Service answered to the call of the wreck,

JOINT Services for Mr. Ashford and Mrs. Cantrell were held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Thomas Keen and Frank Bratcher officiated with burial following at Hale Cemetery, in Pea Ridge Community.

He is survived by his parents, children, sisters and a brother.
