Sepember 27, 1928 - January 14, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Harry "Meade" Freeman, 87, who passed away on January 14th, in Hagerstown, Maryland after a brief illness.He was born to the late Anna and Harry Meade Freeman Sr. in Philadelphia on September 27, 1928. Meade attended Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia and later received a B.S. from Hampden Sydney College in Farmville, Virginia in 1951. After graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army and served one tour of duty in Korea.

On December 24, 1951, Meade married Patricia Winkelman and recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.Meade is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, Frederick and daughter-in-law, Eileen of Kennett Square, Pa., and grandchildren, Michelle, Kimberly and Brad; his daughter, Beth of Washington, D.C., and grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsay and Craig; daughter-in- law, Bene of Atlanta, Ga., and grandchildren Stuart, Blake and Hillary; his son Meade and daughter-in-law, Lisa, of Hagerstown, Md., and grandchildren, Joe and Amie; son, Bill and daughter-in- law, Kathy, of Woodbridge, Va., and grandchildren, Laura, Paige and Will; daughter-in-law, Leslie, of Tampa, Fla., and grandchildren, Alex and Daniel; and daughter, Amanda and son-in-law, Nick, of Alexandria, Va., and grandchildren, Lily and Doug; as well as eight great-grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by sons, Douglas S. Freeman of Atlanta Georgia, and John S. Freeman of Tampa, Florida.A gathering celebrating Meade's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, Md. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) online at or by mail: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Attn: The VFW Tribute Pages, 406 West 34th Street, Suite 718, Kansas City, MO 64111.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A.
