George A. "Shorty" Densmore, 93, of Manor Township, formerly of Gilpin, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday (April 9, 2003) in Kittanning Care Center, Manor.

He was born May 12, 1909, in East Franklin, and lived in his last home in Gilpin for 35 years.

He was an electrician in the maintenance department of the West Leechburg works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., for 37 years before retiring in 1973. He also owned and operated the Leechburg Skating Rink for 20 years, from 1936 to 1956.

Mr. Densmore was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Retirees of the United Steel Workers of America, both in Leechburg.

He enjoyed fishing and yard work.

Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Betty (James) Fennell of Gilpin; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Mid" Irene Smith Densmore in 1991; his parents; a brother, Harry Densmore; and a sister, Laura White.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at CLAWSON'S, Second at Main, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be at noon Friday. His pastor, the Rev. Edward Sheehan, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin.
