Born in Whitby England, son of Jonas Brown and Margaret Huntrodes. Brother of Mary.

Brown came to the English colony of Georgia where he had received a land grant from the King. He refused to join the American patriots and was tortured and his feet were burned. He then led a regiment of Loyalist known as the Kings Rangers fighting for England in the American Revolution. After the war he was exiled to Florida. When the Spanish took control of Florida, Brown moved to St. Vincent He died on his plantation "Grand Sable" in 1825.
