Carl Allen Davenport, 72, of Greenville died Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at his home. He was born in Larue County and had been district manager for Texas Gas, where he worked for 38 years before his retirement in 1985. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WW II and was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davenport; a son, Michael Davenport of Manitou; 2 daughters, Carlette Hines of Jackson, MS, and Rebekah Carr of Columbus, OH; 6 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Leonard Davenport of Horse Cave, Edward Davenport of Courtland, OH, Donald Davenport of Hodgenville and Ray Davenport of Louisville; and 4 sisters, Louise Herbert of Quincey, OH, Edna Brown and Mary Peace, both of Hodgenville, and Virginia Benningfield of Hagertown, MD. Services are at 10 a.m Thursday at Greenville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery, Larue County. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today at Gary’s Funeral Home, Greenville. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
