Max E. Updegraff
Max E. Updegraff, 71, of Elwood, died April 1, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Elwood, he was the son of Elmer and Dora (Disbennet) Updegraff. He retired in 1988 from Guide Lamp Corporation after 31 years of employment. He was a member of UAW Union 663 and the Third Street Church of God.
Survivors include three sons, Jeremy Updegraff, Ronnie Max Updegraff and Glenn Edward Updegraff of Elwood; two daughters, Gayle Ann Updegraff and Linda Sue Updegraff of Elwood; two brothers, Beryle Edman Updegraff of Anderson and Lowell Updegraff of Elkhart; three sisters, Flo Ann Idle of Temperance, Mich., Dora Jane Keller of Anderson and Susan Kaye Hobbs of Elkhart; two granddaughters, Tieraney Kaye Updegraff and Megan Elizabeth Tieraney Stoner; three grandsons, Brian Anthony Updegraff, Christopher Allen Updegraff and Dustin Whisler; and one great-grandson, Cage Bradley Updegraff. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Helen (England) Updegraff; three brothers, Elmer Martin Updegraff, Charles Robert Updegraff and Jerry Joe Updegraff; a sister, Jacklyne Farr; and a granddaughter, Amber Michelle.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Osborn Addition at the Elwood City Cemetery, with Wally Champion of the Third Street Church of God officiating. There is no visitation. Dunnichay Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
