However, a Joplin Globe 13 Jul 1932 obituary, his death certificate (in which the informant didn't know the names of his late spouse or parents), and Park Cemetery records have him as Joseph. There is no headstone, but he is buried next to his wife Myrtle Fugitt Duckworth in the Fugitt family plot.

He and Myrtle Fugitt were married 17 Sep 1907. They moved to Springfield, MO to open another drug store and then after twenty years to Branson, MO where they continued in the drugstore business. Joel & Myrtle Duckworth had no children.
