Duckworth's first name was stated as Joel in several censuses, his draft card, & city directories. However, a Joplin Globe 13 Jul 1932 obituary, his death certificate (in which the informant didn't know the names of his late spouse or parents), and Park Cemetery records have him as Joseph. There is no headstone, but he is buried next to his wife Myrtle Fugitt Duckworth in the Fugitt family plot.
JT Duckworth was the son of Margaret Lockhardt and George Washington Duckworth. His brothers included Vanvert, Robert and J F Duckworth and his sisters Sophia Hope "Hopey", Cyana and Clara Duckworth.
A well known druggist, JT Duckworth first entered the drug business when he went to work for the brother and sister team of Reuben W and Myrtle Fugitt in Neck City, MO. He and Myrtle Fugitt were married 17 Sep 1907. They moved to Springfield, MO to open another drug store and then after twenty years to Branson, MO where they continued in the drugstore business. Joel & Myrtle Duckworth had no children.
Joe Duckworth was active in the Masons and in promoting Branson's Lake Taneycomo district and the resort area.
