Mary Ann (Donahue) Hawkins, age 95, died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Born in East Walpole, Massachusetts on September 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Anastasia (Kelter) Donahue. She was raised in East Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1938. On May 28, 1942, she married the love of her life, William G. Hawkins, Sr. While Bill was away serving his country during World War II, Mary spent 4 years working at Bird and Son in Walpole. Once Bill returned from his duty, they made their home in Norwood, Massachusetts, where she lived for the past 73 years. At this time, Mary left Bird and Son transitioning to the role of a homemaker to raise and care for her family. Mary along with her husband and young family would make regular visits to Barre, VT to visit some of her relatives and in the summer months would take trips to various beaches. In addition, she loved spending time with her family enjoying outdoor activities, including ice skating. As her family began to grow up, she became an active member of both the PTA and the Girl Scouts in Norwood. As she got older, Mary enjoyed traveling with friends to various places, including Hawaii and Bermuda. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late William G. Hawkins, Sr. Loving mother of William G. Hawkins, Jr. and his wife Mary Lou of Foxboro, Patricia Hawkins Greene of Norwood, and Jeanne M. Campbell of Foxboro. Cherished grandmother of Michael W. Greene and his wife Kristin of Washington, DC, William G. Hawkins, III of Foxboro, Shaun P. Campbell of Lakeville, and William J. Campbell of Foxboro. Sister of the late James Donahue. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Marys Life Celebration on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 4-8PM and Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 8-8:30AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Catherines Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Suite 745, Boston, MA 02215
