He is survived by his parents, wife, one month old son, William Ernest Artman, Jr, a sister, Karen and other relatives and friends.
William was a murder victim. He was carjacked, shot and killed at age 19.

Artman, a 1966 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Fairfield, would have reached his 20th birthday November 1.
Services will take place in the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue. Friday at 1:15 and at 2 o'clock in the Silliman Memorial Baptist Church, 1728 Fairfield Avenue, with the Rev. David Lindsay, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and son, are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Artman of Fairfield; a sister, Karen, of Fairfield and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Morgan, West Virginia.

Carolyn passed away on December 7, 1974. After her death, William Jr. was adopted by her brother, Robert J. Mehlhouse.
