SUDDEN SUMMONS: J.M. DOWELL
The "mysterious death" recorded in yesterday morning's "Republican" proved to be Mr. J.M. Dowell, a prominent farmer living about eleven miles northwest of Perry, in Warren Valley township.
Mr. Dowell had been in his usual health and had spent the day up to the time of his death, which occurred in the afternoon, in working about his home. He was observed to drop to the ground while in the yard and though aid was immediately given life was found to be extinct.
The coroner, Dr. Bruce Watson was summoned from Perry and an inquest held. The jury returned a verdict of death from heart failure. The deceased leaves several small children. He had parted from his wife some time ago. He was a highly respected citizen and owned a good farm.
