Alva Lorraine Styles Hughes, 93, passed away Nov. 12, 2016. She was born July 9, 1923, to Wesley Baden Styles and Llewellya Kathleen Aman Styles, in Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold Lloyd Hughes; daughters, Elizabeth, Martha and Jean; grandchildren, Angela, Nichol and Scott; and siblings, Charlotte Schmid, Minnie Johnston, Keith Styles, and Douglas Styles. She is survived by her son, Reginald (Janet) Hughes,; daughters, Marilyn (Dolph) Agnell and Susan (Jim) Slark; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; One great-great-grandson; Sister, Madeline Sommmerfeld; brothers, Wesley and Kenneth Styles; and her huge Canadian family. Alva had a gentle nature and love of music, movies, laughter, cooking, camping, conversation, social gatherings and a passion for teaching and doing genealog. She will be remembered with infinite love. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held various positions throughout her lifetime. She and her husband, Harold, served a full-time mission at the Family History Center in Las Vegas. She was an avid genealogist for over 60 years and a temple worker in the LDS Temple. She lived in Las Vegas since 1964. Viewing will be10-11:15 a.m., both at the LDS Chapel, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas
