Mr. Casper Ziegler, an old and highly respected citizen of Lancaster, died at his home on Aurora street on Monday, August 22, after an illness of six weeks duration, aged 82 years and 25 day. The deceased was born to Wirtsburg, Bavaria, and came to this country August 15, 1852, and lived in the town of Cheektowaga, until 1872, when he moved, to the town of Lancaster, and he has lived here up to the time of his death. His wife died May 9,1879, and since that time he has lived with his youngest daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hauser.
He leaves to mourn his death three sons and six daughters, 50 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His children are Mrs. Erhart Sifert, Mrs. Anthony Schafer, Valentine Ziegler and Casper Ziegler of Buffalo, Adam Ziegler of Town Line, Mrs. George Kolb and Mrs. Leonard Kolb of Millrose, Minnesota, and Mrs. Alois Weibel and Mrs. Joseph Houser of Lancaster. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, an upright citizen, and a pious and devout Christian. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Church this morning at nine o'clock.
