John Dewey Howell

John Dewey Howell, 74, of Tiptonville, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on June 15, 1942 in Trenton, TN to the late William Arnie Howell and Sarah Gertrude Greenway Howell. John was a retired farmer. He was also a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Bramlett officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens.

The Howell Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Nan Howell of Tiptonville; a son, John Dewey Howell, Jr. of Tiptonville; a daughter, Melissa Ann Marvin of Lexington; two sisters, Dorothy Cole of Beech Grove, AR and Freida Henderson of Kenton; his sister-in-law, Cherry Ann Weaks Howell of Tiptonville; and five grandchildren, Jon Bailey Marvin of Tiptonville, Alyssa Hardy Marvin of Tiptonville, Austin Dakota Howell of Troy, Katelyn Hill of Newbern and Matthew Hill of Newbern.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Cole and Joann Benthal; and a brother, William Noah Howell.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Cole, Willie Benthal, Rodney Marvin, William Cole, Jackie Cole and Lonnie Benthal. Honorary pallbearers will be Skipper Pierce, Cory Stewart, Richard Canoy, Lonnie Wayne Vaughn and David Dunn.
