Rosalie and Thomas enjoyed traveling and cruising together to places all over the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Spain. They especially enjoyed their many vacations to Hawaii and Alaska. Rosalie was both a homemaker as well as a partner in the family business, the Food Corner Market in Seaside.
As an active mother and grandmother, Rosalie rarely missed an athletic event of her sons or grandchildren. Rosalie enjoyed participating in the Italian Catholic Federation, especially the Lenten dinners. Along with lifelong friends, she established the Sewing Club and was a participant for over 55 years. For many years, Rosalie traveled with her niece, Angela, on the Reno bus trips. Her interests also included politics, architecture, and the performing arts, frequently attending productions in San Francisco and on the Monterey Peninsula. In her later years, Rosalie enjoyed watching the S.F. Giants then calling friends and family to debate the game's strategy.
Rosalie is survived by her sons John and Thomas Casas, daughter-in-law Monica, grandchildren Nicol, Paul, Melissa, Brynn and great grandson C. J., her brother-in-law Frank Casas as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She follows in death her brothers Phillip, Angelo, Joseph and John Anastasia.
The family would like to thank all of Rosalie's extended family and friends and her caregivers, Kelly, Jenny, Heidi, Anita, Violeta and Ofelia along with the Hospice staff who helped Rosalie remain comfortable in her final days.
A vigil service will be held at San Carlos Cathedral on Monday evening, November 7. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary following at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held at San Carlos Cathedral on Tuesday, November 8, at 9:30 a.m.
Anyone who wishes to honor her is asked to make a donation to the American Leukemia Association or Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
