On October 13, 1945, she was united in marriage to James W. Lindsay, and together they shared thirty years before his passing on December 16, 1975.
She married Orville D. Duckworth on December 26, 1977, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Bill, Thomas, and John Baney, and two infants; and four sisters, Lela Green, Dottie Little, Pearl Smith, and Edna Minnis.
Bertha is survived by a son, Robert Hatmon, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Betty Elmore, and her husband, Dennis, of Lebanon, Missouri, Nina Nickles, and her husband, Mike, of Nebo, Missouri, and Karen Seams, and her husband, Rick, of Lebanon, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lilly Farley, of Dixon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born near Cabool, in Douglas County, Missouri, and was raised in the Cabool area. Soon after she and James were married, they made their home in the Waynesville community, and lovingly began raising their family. In addition to being a devoted homemaker and mother, Bertha also owned and operated the Midway Café in Waynesville for a few years. In 1957, she began a career in cosmetology and ran Bertha's Beauty Shop for a number of years. She later sold that shop and opened Edna's Beauty Shop in Lebanon. Her career in the beauty business spanned forty years, and she retired in 1997.
Bertha made her profession of faith in Christ and was baptized in the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Falcon Baptist Church for a number of years.
In her spare time she liked to travel, cook, crochet, play cards, and bowl. She also loved antiques and enjoyed looking for and collecting special pieces. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
