William W. (Bill) Adams, age 92, of Joplin, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at his home.

Born March 14, 1914, in Centerville, Iowa, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Ellis Adams and had lived in Joplin since 1960, moving from Chillicothe, Mo. From 1935 to 1938, he served in the Iowa National Guard. For several years he was assistant manager for J.C. Penney at Clinton, Iowa. He was district manager of the former Payway Feed Mills and later worked in sales for Joplin Janitor Supply and Hilts, Inc., retiring in March of 1985. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he had served as chief elder. He was a former member of Joplin Elk's Lodge No. 501 and the Shirts and Skirts Square Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte E. Adams in May of 1970; two brothers, Robert and Charles; two sisters, Julia and Dorothy, also preceded him in death. A daughter, Connie J. Hiskey, of St. Petersburg, Fla., preceded him on Jan. 30, 2005.
