Ruth was born March 20, 1950 at Villisca to Arthur and Catheryne (Greenfield) Gay. She began her education in Villisca and completed it with her 1968 graduation from South Page High School where the family moved while she was in school.

Ruth worked for Clark Built Homes in Clarinda. She was a seamstress for Bordeaux in Clarinda. She later worked for the Coldwater Laundry and at the Coldwater Nursing Home in Coldwater, Kan. Family reunions were among her favorite activities.

She raised dogs and birds as well as caring for any cat in the neighborhood. She was a collector of anniversary clocks, Elvis items, country music memorabilia and movies. She was a faithful viewer of the Young and Restless soap opera having watched since it began 44 years ago in 1970. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos and going to yard sales with her friend Marilyn Beedle as well as bowling, crocheting, reading James Patterson novels and playing games on her computer.

Ruth unexpectedly passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1 at her home in Villisca.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Catheryne Gay, great granddaughter Zaylee Ann Blystone, sister Verlea Sands, uncle Rusty Gay, Aunt Charlotte, Aunt Maxine and Aunt Arbell.
