Ed Leslie Dale Gates was born March 10, 1929. He departed this life on November 14, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Helen Irene ShaFeek. Late mother Katie Lee Gates Sargent, and his late stepfather Mr. W.B. Sargent. Brothers: Howard Neil Sargent, Irvin Gates Sargent. Ed is survived by one daughter, Mary Grace Ivory, and three grandchildren: Althez, Assadula and Alicia Ivory. Three great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
He is survived by one brother, James Kirk Sargent. Four sisters: Bettye J. Harris (Sam), Polly Ann Ramsey of New Jersey, Jeanette Sargent of Russellville, Alabama, Amanda Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah. Aunts: India Mae McCullough, Marquerite McCullugh, Gail L. Herstone of Chicago, Illinois, Jack Dale, Jr., Charles A. Dale and William Dale. And a host of nieces, nephew’s other relatives.
