Sarah Frances "Fanny" DuVal, second daughter of Dr. William Claiborne (1824-1904) and Mary Jane Boyer DuVal (1834/8-73), was born March 26, 1866, in Pea Ridge, Ark. She lived in Pineville, Mo. and married (1) in 1883, Dr. Solomon Davis Preston (1853-97). Their seven children were Edith (1884-c1964), Susan (1885-1938), Joel Claiborne (1886-1905), Ruby E. (1890-1952), Lena (1891-1971), Cecil Rollo (1893-1936), and Leo DuVal Preston (1895-97). She married (2) in 1901, in Benton, Ark., Benjamin Alphion Miller (1843-1922). Their children were Frances DuVal (1902-92), and Benjamin Dean Miller (1907-80).

Susan Preston (1885-1938) married (1) in 1906, Samuel Dean Gardom (1858-1943/7) who was involved in mining in Pinal County, Az. Their children were Frances Dean (1907-91) who lived in Fresno, Ca. and married Paul Heinsen; Sanford D. (1908-86); and Preston A. Gardom (1910-68) who married Dorothy (1915-98), and three sons were Preston (c1938-), Samuel (c1939-) and Donald A. Gardom (1945-64). Sanford D. Gardom (1908-86) lived in Pinal County and served in WWII in the Navy, 1943-45. He married (1) in 1929, Thelma Killgore (c1908-), and (2) Evelyn J. Wyatt (or Wiggett). Susan Preston married (2) a Johnson.

Lena Preston (1891-1971) married James Wesley Dobbs (1891-1952) and last lived in Bellevue, Ne. Seven children were Frances Irene, James Wesley, Jr. (1916-72), Frank G. (c1920-), Earl L. (c1922-), Keith Norman (1924-93), Leo Preston (1924-2003), and Betty L. Dobbs (c1928-). Frances Irene Dobbs married William Woodrich.

Cecil Rollo Preston (1893-1936) last lived in Arkansas and served in the Army. He married Lee Ida Wilson (1896-1987), of Prairie, Mo. Their four children were Consetta Lee (1916-post1930); Hanna F. "Ann" (1919-) who married an Utley; Bobby Leo (1919-); and Roy Wilson Preston (1924-2014) who married Mary A. Kincaid (1933-2015). Consetta "Connie" Lee Preston (1916-post1930) married Nester Clifton Parker (1909-75), son of Allen C. (1861-1915) and Alice Etta Cogdell Parker (1864-1935), of Boiling Springs, N.C. Their daughter, June Parker, married Melvin Donald Lewallen. Their son, Kenneth Melvin Lewallen, married Zale Nicole Pulley, and their children are Lindsay June and Gary Ronald Lewallen.

Frances DuVal Miller (1902-92) married Frank M. Roop (1901-63). Their children were Frank M., Jr. and Norma Sue Roop.

Benjamin Dean Miller (1907-80) lived in Ft. Smith, Ark. and served in WWII. He married in 1931, Onita Blair (1909-90). Their son, James Benjamin Miller (UArk. c1954), was a chemical engineer in Akron, Oh. and served in the Korean War. He married Jean Alford, and their four children are Kay, Lois, James Benjamin, Jr., and Stephen John Miller.

Sarah Frances DuVal died December 9, 1946, and is thought to be buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Fort Smith, Ark. with her (2) husband, Benjamin Alphion Miller, who died in 1922. Her (1) husband, Dr. Solomon Davis Preston, died May 5, 1897, and is buried in Southwest City Cemetery, South West City, Mo.
