Mother of Jonestown victim, Mark Hartley Gosney (born November 28, 1973-died November 18,1978 in Jonestown, Guyana). She was the beloved wife of Vernon Gosney, a defector who had intended to return and claim their son. Cheryl was an African American and a member of the Black Panthers in Northern California. During a difficult childbirth in 1973, she was placed in a vegetative state until her death of natural causes in 1980. She was cared for by her mother. She left brain-dead by an overdose of anesthesia during a cesarean-section delivery of their son, Mark.
