KILLED Joseph Bardsley Run Over by Car in Sherrard Mines.
Sherrard. May 21 Joseph Bardslev a mule driver in the Sherrard mines was accidentally thrown by his mule from the entry track headlong across the main track just at the moment when another driver. Wallace Edwards with his mule and two cars of coal and the head car coming at full speed down hill ran on top of him. He was dragged some distance and when taken out died in less than an hour.
Funeral services were held Sundav morning at 9 o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. Bardsley. leaving at 10:00 o'clock for Coal Valley where the remains were laid to rest in the Coal Valley cemetery. Rev. Mr. Stevnson of Cable officiated. Deceased was 23 years old. He leaves his mother, two brothers and one sister, John and Will and Maggie at home and two other sisters. Mrs. Sarah Lindsay of Sherrard and Mrs. Tom Murphy of Cable. He was a member of the local union of the United Mine Workers, No. 1101. The brothers turned out in a body at the funeral.
