She attended Hoquiam schools, graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1946. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and was also the secretary for their union.
Florence was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam.
She enjoyed her flower gardens, music, especially Hawaiian and Hula dancing, which she also taught.
