He was born on Sept. 24, 1950, in Quincy, a son of Elsie and Irvin Boyer.
He married Jerry C Wheeler Oct 26, 1973 at San Diego, CA and was divorced Apr 18, 1984 at San Diego. He married Sharrell Rodvold on Sep. 16, 1990. She survives.
He is survived by his family, Todd and Stephanie Rodvold of Elizabeth, Colo., Troy Rodvold of Seattle, WA, and Kelly Sullivan of Alpine; grandchildren, Nickalos Sullivan, Dakotah Boss, and Hunter and Shepard Rodvold; his mother, Elsie Boyer of Warsaw; two sisters, Sharon Kraus of Inwood, W.Va., and Janet Edlen of Wentzville, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Derrick, Dustin and Emily Kraus, and Jessica and Joseph Edlen; his grandfather, Truman Phillips of Montebello HealthCare Center, Hamilton; and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, and grandmother, Evelyn Phillips.
He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1968. He entered the United States Navy in January 1969, and was discharged in April 1973. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Santee, Calif. He retired on Oct. 30, 2005. He had 36 years of government service. He loved fishing with his friends and cousin "Bill." His passion was carpentry, which he enjoyed on weekends, and his dogs, Duke, Bailey and Poncho.
A full military honor service and interment was held June 27, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, Calif.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Keokuk, or the Keokuk Humane Society.
