Clifford L. Carr, of Joplin passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at his home.

Cliff was born February 23, 1927 in rural Fairland, Oklahoma. He attended Peoria, Ogeechee, and South Fairview rural schools and Roosevelt Elementary in Miami. He graduated High School in Miami with the Class of 1945.

After high school he entered the military service as a draftee and served thirteen months as a United States Air Force Medic in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany. After his service and an occupation soldier, he was honorably discharged in 1947 with the rank of Sergeant.

After military service, he returned to Miami and worked at B.F. Goodrich while attending NEO A&M College where he graduated in May 1949. He transferred to the University of Oklahoma and graduated in June 1951.

Lois Imogene Washington became his wife on January 27, 1952. To this union a son, Ron was adopted and two daughters Raylene and Felicia were born.

After graduating from OU Cliff was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation who used his services in Ardmore, Elk City, and Oklahoma City, Centralia, Illinois, Evansville, Indiana, and Denver, Colorado. He retired in 1983 with Thirty-one years service.

In April 1941 he was baptized and became a member of the Community of Christ fellowship later serving as a priest, Elder and High Priest and as Pastor for branches in Oklahoma City and Miami, Oklahoma and Denver, Colorado.

He held membership in AF&M, Lodge 140 in Miami, and A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, McAlester.

Survivors include his two daughters Raylene Stebbins of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and Felicia Kay Carr of Joplin, Missouri, a grandson Ryan Gootee of Collinsville, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents John Leland and Mayme Frances (Angel) Carr, his wife Lois, a son Ronald Leland Carr and a brother Charles Richard Carr.

There will be a time of visitation on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.

Memorial contributions may be made to Outreach International, PO Box 210 Independence, MO 64051-0210 in honor of Cliff.
