Marlene Joyce Fuglseth, 71, Fertile, MN, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile.
She was born on April 16, 1945, to Julius and Mabel (Lindberg) Halstensgard in Fertile. Marlene was baptized and confirmed at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN. In 1963, she graduated from the Fertile-Beltrami High School and moved to Fargo, ND, to continue her education as a Cosmetologist. Marlene worked in Lisbon, ND, before returning to Fertile where she worked at Fox Beauty Salon for Mabel Hagen.
On November 25, 1967, Marlene was united in marriage to David Fuglseth. In 1983, Marlene opened her own Beauty Salon at her home. Her clients were more than paying customers; they were her friends and motivation for life. When she was younger, Marlene also picked potatoes to raise extra money for the family.
Marlene's steady personality, loving countenance, and gracious heart drew people to her. Over the years she enjoyed sewing, knitting and puzzle books, as well as playing the online game, Farkle--Marlene enjoyed playing against her son-in-law, Dan. She was an avid shopper and truly enjoyed Encore and its staff. Her determination to get things done or have people understand her opinion also moved her to positively deal with her illness. Marlene had a great sense of humor, a passionate love for family, and deep faith in her Creator.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Alex Bauer, and sister, Joan Simmons.
